I just returned from two weeks in McCall, Idaho, where the temperature hovered around -10 to a high of 25.  It was truly a white Christmas with a couple feet of snow falling during our stay.  Living near the beach, I am not really properly outfitted for winter when we head to McCall.  I generally take all the clothes I don’t wear at home to Idaho, thinking I will wear them there, and I do wear a lot of those castoffs.  This winter, though, we hit up the local stores and bought a few fun items which I mixed with some old staples.485-copy

We drove down to Boise to drop the kids off at the airport to head back to Newport Beach and spent a little time at the Boise Towne Square Mall before heading back up to McCall. The jeans are old faithful Kensie Ankle Biter jeans with wonderful embroidery on the side seams. The boots are from Bare Traps from a few years ago, but they have a lot of great options for warm boots.  These are furry on the inside and not only incredibly warm, but really comfortable for walking.  The vest was a surprise gift, super warm and easy to add to any outfit.  It was purchased at The Shore Lodge gift shop in McCall, but is actually by True Grit in Ne488-copywport Beach!  The hat is from  Mountain Monkey Business – it is a Toucan Collection felt fedora, very fun and warm. The cashmere infinity scarf is from Restoration Hardware.  Consider becoming an RH Member for $100 and save 25% on all regular priced merchandise. The purse is Kate Spade.

The outfit was super comfortable for driving down the mountain, a little shopping, the drive halfway home to have dinner at Kit’s Riverside in Horseshoe Bend (definitely try the tater tots!) and the beautiful drive back up the mountain on the Payette River Scenic Byway.
